I really am disabled.
I use handicapped parking spots. The spots don't say senior citizens spots that say Handicapped Parking.
I have nothing against seniors a lot of them need those spots and have their stickers in the window. It's the people who use them illegally that I get up tight with but how do I know if you are disabled. To look at me you wouldn't know that I can't walk very well or that my balance is really off.
I tried for so long not to admit I needed help and now I get chastised and even abused when I use a parking spot made just for HANDICAPPED PEOPLE.
I have one of those diseases that are hard to see. There are a lot of us that have MS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia that can walk into a place fine but 5 minutes later we are so tired we can't walk at all. So we park as close as possible and use our parking permits. We are the honest ones because our doctors have filled out all the paperwork to get us one that is legal.
I use to get really upset when I'd see someone who didn't look disabled parking in a handicapped spot until I got Multiple Sclerosis.
We all need to be a little more trusting that the people who are using the spot need it. There are those of us who sometimes forget to put our visors down and hide our permits.
There are those people who are inconsiderate and park in handicapped spots. You can bet that if they ever need that spot to park in the future somebody else will be parked illegally. They will more than likely be the first to complain. What goes around comes around folks and they will get theirs.
I always try to make sure that my handicapped sticker is visible but that doesn't matter to some people. I don't know how many times older people have looked at me when I've been parked in a handicapped spot and shook their fists or like one lady even kicked my car.
There are so many people out there using them illegally now, how is anyone to know if the permit is legal or not.I know I may just be complaining but I hope I give some people insight to that person who parks in the handicapped spot and looks just fine.
